Re: Add daily scales practice

No matter what the team decides, thank you, Andrew, for being here to address the issues. It's very much appreciated.

Re: Add daily scales practice

I consider the "surprise" aspect of this annoying and a little condescending. I've unlocked two courses but have no way of knowing how many more are available or what I need to do to unlock them. Consequently I have no way of knowing how best to direct my practice to suit my own personal goals. One...

Re: Import of MXL files

@Russ1409, what is the program you're using? I'm using Sibelius currently to play contents of Music XML files. Unfortunately it doesn't validate how I play either. I've tried about all of them, including Sibelius, trying to come close to replicating PGS with imported music. None of them work partic...

Re: Import of MXL files

I was wondering, what did the team have to say about this? I was wondering, because I use a program to do this (it isn't really designed for validation, like PGS) and it doesn't work well. But I suspect the PGS team is much better than the developers of the other program. I'm just curious what their...

Re: Frustrated by timing problems and not being able to move on in program

Trying to use the cursor as your exact timing guide is not the way to go. Worst of all, you can get dependent on it and may have a hard job transitioning to paper music. Yes to this a hundred times over. It's easy to get caught up in the PGS interface, because it's so good, and forget that the fina...

Real world music doesn’t have a moving cursor.
Indeed, it's played by feel. I try not to get hung up on the scoring and the app telling me I missed a note by .001 of a second. I listen to it and if it sounded good...success!

Re: Frustrated by timing problems and not being able to move on in program

My impression is that the app responds differently to different songs. I don’t find that it’s wrong as such, but on some songs it is unbelievably picky about late notes. I haven't had this experience myself. I think I've been very lucky in my setup as I just plugged in my computer to the piano and ...

Re: have you used Hanon exercises?

I use the Hanon exercises for strengthening my ring finger and as scales practice. I've never really used the finger exercise sections beyond exercise #1, as just looking at them gave me a headache :D However, the book, to me, was invaluable in getting me started with the scales, and I think it prob...
