Re: Where should I be looking?

Hi mrclauds! Its been a while since your posting and I haven't seen anyone respond, so I shall be the first - I guess. If you are still having trouble on where to look to be "technically sound", then my answer would be get used to looking at the sheet music 90% of the time. Its ok to look down as yo...

Re: plateauing

Hi jwonch! If you mean "plateauing" by you're not learning anything new that you dont know already, then I can answer both of your questions by reccommending you start or join a band. If you have a diverse repetoire that you can bring to a band, I'm sure you'll learn to play without sheet music and ...

Re: Playing Chords

Hi Winnipeg01! Here's my thoughts; From beginner to intermediate-advanced, always follow the prescribed fingering charts. They are ment to teach the basics and train your hand (and mind) to playing chords/triads properly. Having short fingers may pose a challenge but not an impossible one. I would p...

Re: Interactive Keyboard for Rookie-Moderate and up

Hi Armor9! Here are my thoughts to your issues: First, have the grand staff written out and near you. When I first started learning to read piano music, I wrote out the entire grand staff on a sheet of paper (lines and the spaces with the specific notes). Then, I wrote out just the treble clef notes...

Re: Change Hand Positions

Hi Wombat2018! In the rookie bootcamp version of Scarborough Fair, its left handed "static" exercise (meaning your left hand does not move throughout the piece. Pinky finger(5) on C, Ring finger (4) on D, Index finger (2) on F, and Thumb (1) on G. From what I gathered from your post was that it seem...

Re: Disability

Hi Jay! I would advise to just keep looking at the keys, then slowly begin to stop looking. Look at the position your left hand has to be in, then where it needs to get to. Once your hand has made it to where it needs to be, immediately look away. Then try to repeat that pattern without looking. The...

Re: "Dont Stop Believing" - Journey LH D#?

Thanks alot sw1tch73ch for running analysis on the song. I went thru the song with my bass and I think the bass is playing an open E and the piano is playing a D# just to have a half step distinction for texture. My ears still hear the E above the D# and I've just adapted that into the PGS song arra...

"Dont Stop Believing" - Journey LH D#?

Hello PGS Team! I've been struggling with the LH phrase with the song titled above. I'm having trouble specifically with the 6th Measure. What's written is C# D# then transition to G#. What I hear from the song is a C# E then G#. I've reviewed a few tutorials that show the same pattern as I've expla...
