Re: Song Lesson structure
I knew there must be somebody out there who liked the system of adding a few notes here and there, but it was driving me nuts - as soon as I'd begin developing some muscle memory (or I guess the image these days is thickening the myelin sheathing of the neurons), something would change and I'd find ...

"There are books for learning piano fingering."
Play the Piano Drunk Like a Percussion Instrument until the Fingers Begin to Bleed a Bit is not one of them.

Re: for me it's all about nerves and feel
chk9710 - any idea about the difference playing for teacher vs playing for the computer makes for playiing before an audience (real or virtual)? As for getting a lot more time in, me too. When I was taking (non-piano) lessons in high-school, it didn't go over real big if I wanted to work/fool around...

Re: Option to hide the cursor
Another request for a "hide the cursor" option. At times, the cursor seems to be "twitchy" - a little less than "jerky", but still distracting. Could this have something to do with having other programs being open at the same time, a browser for example? (I usually do have at least something else ea...

I wonder if working with a teacher makes a difference in the level of performance anxiety? At least it prepares you for dealing with the presence of another human being, although virtual audiences can be a lot rougher than I imagine a teacher who wants to keep a paying student would be.

Re: Ear training with EarMaster
I forgot the most important part: EarMaster.com, look for the big "Free Downloads" button. This may be a time-limited offer - they are currently offering a download link rather than a direct link from within the main page (as they were a couple of weeks ago), so this may not be a permanent feature.

Ear training with EarMaster
The EarMaster people are making the basics of their latest program - 7.x - available for free. Considering what I paid for EarMaster Pro 5.0 long ago, this is a super offer. (I was originally hoping for a cheap upgrade of the old version, since it was set up for guitar rather than piano and the prog...

Re: Time Signature question
Right, with the backing tracks the notation is not so much a problem as an irritation. Getting all these fingers to the right notes at the right time is the problem - I feel like I just can't think quite fast enough, and when I slow the tempo down to a crawl, then my mind tends to wander... It's a w...

Re: Time Signature question
Yeah, I read David's post about why PGS decided to go with 4/2 - but I also saw a post above by someone who gave up on the program/app/whatever because of it. As I said, I'm looking forward to the end of it - being comfortable with what they switch to later on is an advantage for those who are alrea...

Re: Time Signature question
The 4/2 time is a real hassle if you've been reading music long enough to have strong associations with the symbols as used in 4/4 etc. music. Someday I'll tell people I learned to play the Can-Can in 4/2 - I expect it'll seem hysterically funny. At the time, I got so frustrated trying to remember w...
