Re: Video performance - Prelude in C

In case somebody on this forum is interested, here is my video for the second week of the challenge :) I'm still experimenting with how to set up the video, thus the bad focus and flickering, sorry about that (but only because of these I didn't want to re-record everything). https://vimeo.com/459950...

Re: Video performance - Prelude in C

Hi EFlatMajor - thanks for the kind words :) I did as you mentioned and e-mailed the support. After explicit consent, that they may post the video on my behalf, they are going to relay it. Thanks for the tip! Additionally, I asked confirmation that this is a semi-official way to do this thing, and y...

Re: Prelude in C counting question

Take care! I didn't mean that if the stem is pointing upwards, then the note belongs to the upper staff! What I mean, if the stems of notes from the two staves align with each other, then they are on the same beat. In the Prelude in C sheet music, the stems are pointing upwards because those notes a...

Re: When to turn off finger numbering?

I'm the wrong person to ask there, I've never used sticky notes, marks, or anything similar, for me the keyboard came semi-intiutively, after I learned the basic layout. Mapping letters to the music sheet notation, that's something I struggle with, but slowly it comes. Maybe somebody else will jump ...

Re: When to turn off finger numbering?

My 2¢: There is a course about reading staff notation, I suggest you do that as soon as you can, and afterwards keep the fingering numbers turned off; only turning it back on to check whether your assumptions are correct.

Re: Prelude in C counting question

Experience. In some editions, you will see a ⅛ rest over the first half note. In other editions the rest is missing and you have to "calculate" beforehand how much is "missing" for the second voice and keep that in mind while playing. When learning a piece, this is easy, it will get tricky only if y...

Re: When to turn off finger numbering?

The numbering won't be turned off automatically, you have to turn it off manually. General consensus seems to be: turn it off as soon as you are comfortable with it. Afterwards try to analyse the sheet music before playing, and turn on the fingering to quickly check, whether yours is way off, then t...

Re: Prelude in C

You have to take care that the BPM can be defined on any note length. E.g. one can say ♩= 120 but also ♪ = 120 is possible. I think in PGS it's always based on the quarter note, but I may be mistaken here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frxT2qB1POQ This interpretation is around ♪ = 120. For this sp...
