Re: Future of PGS App?

I might guess that the final release, which will come normally through the app store, will have to contain all the code locally as required by Apple's guidelines. Ok - so I must prove myself wrong: I looked a little bit deeper into this and it seems that downloaded JavaScript code interpreted by th...

Re: Future of PGS App?

Some updates to the beta have appeared without any visible notification to the user, and unknown to Apple's "testflight" beta system, as if the app detected code changes on the server. Any idea what the mechanism might be for these updates? Mmh, I am not part of the beta, so I have no idea what the...

Re: Future of PGS App?

Actually, the splash screen in the beta says "Powered by React Native". Looking at the traceback above with all the URLs, does it necessarily mean that the code is fetched from their server every time the app is launched? If the app is already running, does it detect code changes and fetch the upda...

Re: What to do as a rookie?

I think learning progress is best when you find the sweet spot between challenging but not to hard, neither boring nor frustrating. In "classical" education it is the reponsibility of the teacher to provide you with such tasks - in PGS we are our own teachers, so we've got to listen to ourselfs (act...

Re: When to change the staff mode from numbers to letters or without any?

No, there isn't a lesson where they say: "Ok, now it's time to switch off the numbering" ... My humble advice: make the "Reading Music - Staff Notation (Rookie)" course as soon as it pops up (although it can get pretty hard at the end) and turn off numbers/letters afterwards altogether (with an occa...

Re: Future of PGS App?

Yepp - this is obviously JavaScript code, but can't tell which framework (doesn't really matter anyway - 'promiseReactionJob' seems to be Safari/Webkit related, so probably no React Native), but glad to hear that they used something cross-platform and a little bit more future-proof than Adobe Air.

"sneak peak" "in the coming months" sometime later in the year Anyone else how finds this communication strategy somewhat unprofessional? C'mon, we are paying customers not some kiddies waiting for Santa. Every serious software project has at least a roadmap and a changelog. PS has a buggy app base...

Re: Being able to play from sheet music

Sightreading is a skill which needs to be practiced on its own. Unfortunatly PS doesn't honor this (Pianomarvel does btw) I dabbled around some time with https://www.sightreadingfactory.com which is fine, but the best thing I found was https://www.bachscholar.com/ SightReading&Harmony . Okay - its a...
