Re: Rookie - is it ok to complete at slower speed?
If you are on a computer, not a tablet, you have fine level control of tempo. If I have trouble jumping from the "slow" speed to "full" speed, I like to jump the tempo up in small increments. So if I'm doing good at the slow speed, the next setting I might use is 5 to 10 bpm faster and I keep workin...

Re: Recording each hand?
The software does, at least for the songs I've tried so far, provide one hand at a time before joining both parts together. The software also works in small chunks at the beginning, working toward larger chunks and then finally the full song. One of the real and truly useful functions on a computer ...

Re: Beter sound - solved
My solution is to use a small mixer with the piano and computer plugged into two sets of stereo inputs, adjust the volumes as desired and then output the mixer to a small stereo amplifier. Headphones plugged into the mixer would be an option.

Re: Game of Thrones - Great music and great for speed and coordination
I figured out how to get MuseScore to play 170 Half Notes per minute without resorting to a tempo of 340. In the sheet music you should see, at the top of the score, a quarter note symbol = 170 TempoInQuarterNotes.PNG You can change that to show a half note symbol = 170 TempoInHalfNotes.PNG To chang...

Re: Should I continue to use the finger number method?
I'm nearly done with Rookie, but I still leave the numbers on for now. My intent is to go through the lessons again before I move onto Intermediate, with the letter names displayed rather than numbers. Then I'll go through again with just the notes and no numbers or letter names. As Thomas notes, ev...

Re: Game of Thrones - Great music and great for speed and coordination
OK, after much further reading about MusicXML and the various DAW software, I believe Playground Sessions is working correctly. The XML file clearly states a tempo of 170 and a beat-type of 2. That means there should be 170 half-notes per minute. The staff view of the music should organize the music...

Re: Game of Thrones - Great music and great for speed and coordination
It seems silly that nowhere in the documentation for MuseScore or SONAR do they state that tempo is always quarter notes per minute. But that seems what MIDI programs expect. They ignore that the time signature defines what a beat is - so a 2/2 time means the half note is a beat, and there are two p...

OK, a short amount of experimentation later...
The XML file defines the tempo in terms of quarter notes. It seems that we are getting twice the tempo from the music than is indicated. Fixing this would break all the songs and lessons.

Re: Game of Thrones - Great music and great for speed and coordination
globetrotterdk, Did you also remember to set MuseScore to give the half note the beat count? Most of the lessons are 4/2 time, where as most notation software assume 4/4 unless told otherwise. 4/4 means there are 4 beats to the measure, and it is the quarter note that gets the beat. So a tempo of 12...
