Re: A new learnerr

Welcome to the stringy side of keys! I started with Accordion, which I suppose is similar in concept. But I was like 8 or 9 at the time and the full size accordion was a bit much for me then, so I took up piano. We moved and I never did pick up a new teacher, so I got a total of like six months (I t...

Good luck!

More important than luck is perseverance and persistence. I'll wish you these even more.

Re: Stuck in Lesson 40

Which lesson do you have as Lesson 40? Is it the one that uses "Lean On Me"? You should be able to choose which fingers you want to play with on that 2nd step of 8 (the first being a video), your first line will be Middle C and then ascending, D, E, F, G, A, B and C. That first note with one ledger ...

Re: a newbie

Hello Singh. Welcome and congrats on the working keyboard and mac. That can sometimes be harder than playing the music. There are a few tips to getting the most from the system. 1) Go slow, or at least start slow. You'll find a Tempo adjustment tool to let you go as slow as you need to. It is better...

Re: Lesson 41 - Notation wake up call

Is Lesson 41 "Over My Head" Practice Techniques? This is an extension to the "Extended Hand Position" lessons that is set to prepare you to do the various real hand change lessons that follow. Turning off the finger numbering might not help yet. What you want to pay attention to is where the hands s...

Re: Rookie Bootcamp Lesson 42: Falling Slowly (How?)

I put a video on Facebook for the Playground Sessions Community for this one. It was challenging. You have to use your Index finger to guide your thumb to the right note when moving from C to E so you can quickly move it. Put the index finger over the F key while the thumb is playing the C so the th...

Re: Major Piano Noob

Excellent! If you run into, as I have occasionally, frustrating lessons, remember that you can set the metronome down to a slow speed and practice playing the right notes. Once you are good with that tempo, you can speed it up. If you are using the PC or Mac, you have fine level controls that let yo...

Re: Game of Thrones - Great music and great for speed and coordination

We've had our share of conversations on Facebook regarding the Game Of Thrones theme. It took me quite a while to manage this piece. I can't say I've mastered it, though. I'm now working on playing the lesson with no finger number notation, no note name notation, and no metronome. It turns out that'...

Re: looping part options (sa far annoying)

I think not only, on repeating a single measure, or even two or three, is the count in distracting, it is also disruptive. I agree that the option to turn off the count-in mid loop is a good idea. It should be like the finger numbers / Letters / none and the Metronome ticks and be something we can t...
