Fingering in Happier (Theorist)
Fingering in Happier (Theorist)
Hi, the fingering in the Theorist version of Happier is a bit weird:
In measures 3 and 4 the thumb is holding a D for the whole measure, while also playing the occasional F.
Any ideas? Cheers.

I've forwarded to Thomas to discuss this. That definitely looks strange to me.

Unfortunately, we cannot make any changes to notation in the Theorist's arrangements unless we have explicit permission. All of the notation is owned by him, and we simply just format it for the app and add fingerings. We are going to leave that be for now.

I would go with the Thumb for the D and then use the 2 Finger on that F. Notice when the F becomes sixteenth notes they are shown with the 2 over them, still F keys. You might consider playing the A with the 4 finger and the G with the 3.

Andrew, the problem is in the fingering, something you do have control over. I do have to say it's refreshing to see a honest "wontfix" for a change, but it's not a good look.andrewwegierski wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 10:48 pmAll of the notation is owned by him, and we simply just format it for the app and add fingerings. Thanks sw1tch73ch, I was doing something like that. If your pinkie is quick enough you can just play:
2|1 3 3 3 5 5 4 3 2
2|3 4 3 2 2 2 2 2 3

I know the problem is the fingering. Actually, no, we do not have control over that. I was mistaken. That's part of the notation from him, and we cannot change it. No matter how small it is. We simply copied his sibelius files and put them in the app.
Good solution, John

Hi,
So my question is what and who is the Theorist? What makes it better or special? Why should I buy and learn these songs? Why did PGS bring in something they could not fix?
Thanks Scott

You can make whatever changes you like to the XML data files. An example of me doing this is here: viewtopic.php?t=18695
If you do not own Sibelius, you can edit the file using Notepad or any other text editor.
I have not purchased this song so I can't make the edit for you.
If you do make edits, I would recommend making a backup copy. Sometimes Playground Session will re-download the original XML file and overwrite your changes back to normal. If that happens quickly restore the file. You don't even have to shutdown the app to do this.
