Extremely disappointed with the Song Library interface

I have been a Lifetime subscriber for a couple of years and the Song Library continues to disappoint.

1. Search is pathetic. Browse is nonexistent.
2. Using credits for songs couldn't have been more confusing if it was designed to be confusing.
3. Adding to the confusion is the bugs that don't add the monthly credits properly.
4. Interface tricks the user into using non-expiring credits instead of monthly free songs.

Here is the feature request: FIX THE LIBRARY!!

Are you buying songs on the computer app? Try buying songs from our website instead: https://www.playgroundsessions.com/store/songs. The website has a search feature and a couple of additional filtering options on the top. While looking for a specific song or artist, make sure that 'Sort By' is set to either 'Song Title' or 'Artist Name' so that you view the full selection.

The system does not prioritize non-expiring credits. If you would like a walkthrough of how to redeem song credits, please visit this article in our FAQ: https://support.playgroundsessions.com/ ... g-credits-

Why is there no way to browse by difficulty as well? I get that there is Rookie, etc... but there is also Easy, Intermediate and Hard under each category, correct? Why is that not implemented?

It would be really nice to be able to filter the songs not just at the Rookie, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, but also at the sub levels (easy, moderate, and hard).

Agreed, and have done for years - the store implimentation is TERRIBLE, maybe only beaten into 1st place by the equally bad library section  . Are we ever going to see thisd new version of the app that's been mentioned numerous times?

Having only been here just 6 weeks its obvious as to what's going on.

Like an amazing shop front to entice us in we give you Quincy Jones, Harry Connick Jr (and a couple of other dudes).

Were reaching for our wallets and purses before even entering the shop.

Its only after entering the reality hits home.

The stock is sub standard.

There is no support.

The guys on the door keep their backs towards us and continue taking money.......

I don't want to flog a dead horse

flogging_dead_horse_what.jpg (38.07 KiB) Viewed 728954 times
but here is what I see (as a customer for over a year)
  • on home page, its says co-created by music legend Quincy Jones but nobody will tell you he will never appear on any video, failure
  • on home page, its says over 1000 songs but nobody will tell you all are simplified (crippled, fake... whatever you want to call it, its not real), failure, example viewtopic.php?f=28&t=11728
  • over 1000 songs? :) :) :) :) sorry, that is not true. Some might say 0 since none is real, some might say a few, some might count only those which is interested in, example 13 jazz viewtopic.php?f=28&t=17107 failure
  • on home page, its says Fun and easy-to-follow video lessons from world-class musicians, ehm, not sure if that girl from Hanon course is world-class musician, but quality of video and especially audio definitely went down, failure
  • software itself is not intuitive, hence many questions from forum what should I do first...., failure
  • split software into bootcamp and courses is confusing, a lot
  • 5 free songs every month? kinda works if you know how, failure
  • no software update since 2017, even more, no hint somebody is working on any small modification, example viewtopic.php?f=33&t=12843 huge failure
  • some requests (bugs found) are back from 2016, still valid, failure
  • nobody using phpBB forum anymore in 2020 :( such a amateur sign, failure
but still
  • is the Hanon fun? hell yea, it is
  • have I finished all those 13 jazz songs at advance level? no, I haven't :(
  • a few new songs (even crippled) appear time to time in store
  • some new videos on YouTube channel as well
  • admin like Andrew appear time to time here

That's an informative post Pavel.

It is such a shame to have become aware of so many issues surrounding PGS. I've even had to give up on social media channels due to the amount of people requesting help, some satisfied some not.

Which brings me back to this forum which you mentioned. Its just not working. Its not intuitive to navigate and PGS are relying on the good nature of a few to keep it alive, mainly by answering newcomers queries.

What's needed is a reshuffle of how the forum is presented which should include help sections for those using the various operating systems. Then give incentives to those who are moderating specialists for each of those sections, maybe a lifetime subscription for as long as they're actively supporting the forum or an open house song store if already on a lifetime plan.
Forums have always been the go to base of subject knowledge and will remain so, unlike social media posts where today's query is forgotten by some inane drivel posted tomorrow.

There should also be a section on current PGS application build announcements to include proposed release dates, details of the proposed changes and even a beta programme for nominated experienced users to trial pre-release.

There is so much more to be done, more so with the app itself and especially for non windows users, but getting it right here first would take little effort, time and at no cost if using those members who have experience of PHPbb software.
