Counting

Post by Nancybenjam » Sun Jan 19, 2020 8:05 pm

Hi Everyone
I am loving Playground Sessions! My biggest obstacle is getting the rhythm correct. If I know what the count should be (quarter notes or half or whole, 1234, or 1+2+3+4+) I still can’t count and play at the same time. Often if there are eights or sixteenths or dotted notes I can’t even count without playing. It would be awesome if there was a counting option like the fingering and letter options on each lesson. If I heard someone counting it while I played it would be awesome. But short of that, are there some practice tips anyone could offer that would help me to learn to count. I’m getting thru PGS by watching the moving line closely but without the line I am lost. Even with the line I make a ton of timing mistakes.
Thanks for any advice you can offer. Nancy Benjamin

Hi Nancy!

The closest thing to counting out loud while you're playing would be enabling the metronome. Go to settings - volume and make sure the metronome slider is all the way up. This will definitely help you rely more on your ears than your eyes while playing!
