What's this Chord?

Post by Beauknowsdiddly » Mon Mar 07, 2022 11:21 pm

Two questions about this chord https://www.dropbox.com/s/7rik9wq5eyjrn ... F.png?dl=0

First: Are you suppose to hit that middle note first? It turns green when I hit them at the same time.

Second: What do you call it? I don't know what that square with the X represents.. So I see B something minor 7th over F??

I'm sure I'd get it if I knew how to read music but that's why I'm here! To hopefully learn that stuff :)

Thank you!

Hi Beauknowsdiddly!

From the snippet, my best guess would be that its a "B-flat minor 7 over F" chord played with the left hand.

Meaning you press the Bflat key, Dflat Key and the F key all at the same time.

The "x" is a corruption in loading the proper information of which chord is to be played. This is a bug in the PS software. You'll just have to occasionally have to reload the playground sessions app.

Hope this helps! I wish you all the best!

Hey Thanks for responding SJunior22

OH! so the "x" should be a flat symbol.
You're right of course, Bbm7/F, left hand. The snippit is actually from the 11th measure of the Bass cleft of the song "Easy" by the Commodores.

I've seen that "bug" several times on other songs and just thought maybe it was a symbol I haven't learned yet. For this particular song though it's on every single chord and unfortunately it doesn't go away, I've rebooted the app several times. Pretty sure they're all flats though.

No biggie. Now that I know it's a bug I'll just pretend it's not there.

But what about the first question? Are you suppose to hit that middle note first since it shows up that way on the staff?

Hey thanks again!

Have a great day!
Thank You!

Hi again Beauknowsdiddly!

Glad I'm able to be of help! With regards to the first question - no, you hit all the keys in the chord at the same time. Reason why its written like that is just for readilbility.

Again, glad to be of help and I wish you all the best!

The "X" instead of the flat symbol is easly fixed by installing the missing font. Certain Windows updates might cause it to go missing again, so save these instructions!

Thank you rickm!

I always thought it was a bug in PS because it seems to display the correct font half of the time.
