It is easy to Google or YouTube opinions on this, but I would like to hear from the pros on here: can you explain in a bit more detail what is an ideal posture for sitting and playing piano for a beginner?
One of the criticisms I keep hearing of online lessons is that one might develop bad habits a teacher would catch. Bad posture is often cited. Thanks!

Re: Correct posture?
I'm happy you mentioned posture, bwsmithna@live.com. The Playground team was just discussing this a few days ago. I am a piano teacher and here is how I get my students to sit correctly.
1. Sit towards the middle/front edge of your seat.
2. Square your feet, keep them flat on the floor.
3. Become aware of your sitting bones and balance yourself on them.
4. Tighten your lower back, then immediately release the tension.
5. Tighten your shoulders and upper back, then immediately release the tension.
PLEASE DO NOT EXERT TOO MUCH FORCE ON YOURSELF FOR STEPS 4 and 5!!!! IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A QUICK TIGHTENING AND RELEASE.
If you do these 5 steps correctly, you will feel grounded and centered. The goal is to be completely relaxed.
We plan on having a lesson about sitting at the piano someday. Let me know if this helps!
Best,
Thomas
