Time signature in lesson 34

Post by cjbv » Tue Nov 22, 2016 12:31 pm

Hi,
I am confused about time signature in lesson 34 (4/2). Each bar has four quarter notes or two half notes or one whole note, so my question is whether each bar in a 4/2 time signature should not have four half notes instead.
Thanks

Yes, you are correct! However, the music is notated with dotted bar lines, which creates a compound measure. 2 measures separated by a dotted bar line = 1 full measure of 4/2. This is easier on the eyes for reading.
