I was introduced to note timing and duration in 4/4 time, then when I went on the exercises, they were in 2/4 time. The voice even counts off "one..two..three..four..set go." or something like that. I sorted it out, but I had some confusion. It could be made clearer, is all I'm saying.

Yes, I think that's pretty odd as well. Kind of strange they aren't using the all-time most common time signature. I have rarely even seen any music in 2/4 time. There must be some kind of reason for it. I assume they think it simplifies the notation or makes it easier to learn.

It was explained early on that they chose 4/2 in order to avoid the "scary" eighth notes.I don't know how scary those really are, but that was the reason.
