Rhythm Part 1, Tempo

Post by soundsquire » Mon Apr 13, 2015 8:50 pm

In this lesson the time signature is shown as 4/2. Shouldn't the half note get the beat? David is counting it like 4/4 or am I just confused? :?

Ok...I get it now. David goes on to explain the simplified counting in part 2. My bad.

All good. Yeah, essentially we augmented the notes so that they wouldn't look as scary for beginners. For whatever reason, music looks a lot scarier when you have to deal with beams (which are found in 8th notes and smaller). Although we changed the look of the notes we wanted to still instill the 4-count that has become a standard in music. Hopefully this approach doesn't throw too many people off.
