This is in responce to Lawboy's Post about, Finger Exercises and dexterity!
I know what you mean... how can it be so difficult when you only have four fingers and a big thumb!?
I'm ok with the thumb and first finger, then all hell breaks out! I know which finger should go down.. it says it on the screen, but my other fingers seem to have a mind of there own!
As part of my warm-up, I do this exercise:
Start with your right hand...
Put your fingers as follows.... 1 (Thumb) on C, 2 D, 3 E, 4 F and 5 on G.
1st.. the easy bit... play the following pattern at a steady tempo.... 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 and repeat
2nd.. ok you've got the idea.. now try this one: 1,3,2,4,3,5,4,2 ... steady tempo... slow to start... and repeat
3rd... another one just to give you something to do: 1,2,3,4,5,3,4,2 play the same as before... Looks easy, doesn't it?
I find that naming the fingers as I play them.. helps force it into my brain!
Once you've got your right hand going... try the left hand.
Now you can try both hands together..
Next start on the next note up.. D... don't forget that you will need to play... D, E, F",G and A
Hope this helps someone!? Would like to here how you get on and if anyone has more exercises then please share!?
Happy Playing!
