I'm using Playground with a 9.7" ipad pro and was wondering:

If I want to connect my midi controller keyboard do I simply need a lightning cable to female USB or is it more complicated than that?

You would need a USB A to B male cable like this:

And then you'll also need to Lightning to USB adapter like this:
