Keyboard connected, no feedback

When I connect connect my iPad to my keyboard it says keyboard connected and ready for feedback however, I can't hear my piano through my iPad. When I begin a lesson there isn't any feedback and all of the notes are being marked wrong. In settings it gives me two piano options to select from which is "Network session 1" and "mio". It won't allow me to select "mio" at all which is the midi cable I'm using, it automatically goes back to "Network session 1". I also tried closing the app and restarting it which hasn't worked. The piano I'm using is Yamaha p35.

What is the connection chain you are using to connect your keyboard to your iPad?
