Songs Disappeared from iPad

Signed up for an account and downloaded 2 of the free songs and was using them on the ipad. Now they have disappeared from the ipad, although they still show up on the desktop in the account information as purchased songs. The ipad also still shows as a connected device and is linked to the account. Tried to remove and re-add as well, which I did successfully, but the songs are still not syncing. Internet connectivity is confirmed on all devices.

Any thoughts on help here?
