Is there a way to delete local downloads (oviously without deleting the score)?

Yes, there is. You can delete songs (without losing your progress) by:

-going to the help tab
-clicking on clear Playground data...
-Check "lesson assets" and "lesson data"
-then it will prompt you to close the app.

Upon reopening, the lessons won't be downloaded anymore, but your scores will still be saved to your profile.
